SCREEN PRINTING OR SILK SCREEN PRINTING

Screen printing, also known as silk screen printing, is a popular decorating method used to apply ink to glass containers creating intricate pictures or patterns. This technique utilizes a fine mesh screen, typically made of silk, nylon, or polyester, acting as a stencil to transfer ink through an emulsion of exposed mesh. During printing, ink is applied to one side of the screen, and a squeegee evenly distributes it across the stencil. The ink is then forced through the mesh openings onto the substrate below, transferring the design onto the surface.

•  Custom Colors: Custom colors for printing can be achieved, but it's preferable to identify them using the Pantone Matching System (PMS) or provide a physical sample. 

• Screens: The screens act as stencils for transferring ink onto the printing substrate, comprising a frame and mesh. The design is exposed for printing on the mesh of the screen. Each color requires a separate screen, ensuring precise color reproduction and clarity in the final printed result.

• Deco Templates: The deco template, also known as a "die line," communicates the dimensions of the surface area on the glass bottle where decoration can be applied. It serves as a two-dimensional layout of the packaging component, complete with guidelines established by the decorator. At New High Glass, we provide Deco templates for all our bottles, available in PDF or AI format. These templates allow you to easily incorporate your design within our decoration parameters, ensuring a seamless customization process.

With semi-automatic silk screen printing, each unique color requires a unique printing pass. Multiple screens and printing passes are needed for more complex decorations. This is why sometimes digital printing and labeling are more cost-effective options.
